Officers Gunned Down

2010 was one of the deadliest years for police officers in decades - and this year appears on track to be even worse. Guns have killed at least 30 law enforcement officers this year and since the beginning of 2009, an average of one officer has died by gunfire each week. It is not too surprising that since 2004, when the Assault Weapons Ban expired, we are seeing more assault weapons and assault clips seized in crime, used in mass murders - like the shooting in Tucson - and being used to murder police.
