My sixteen year-old son, William Jenkins, was shot and killed in 1997 when he was on his second day of work at a fast food restaurant in Richmond, Virginia. His promising life was cut short by a man who easily obtained a handgun and held up the restaurant at closing time. William Jenkins would have begun his senior year in high school one month after his murder.
Since that time, we have been working closely with the Million Mom March and the Brady Campaign to end the violence on our streets that is facilitated by the easy access to guns.
