Nancy Bishop Langert, 25, along with her husband, Richard, and their unborn child, were murdered on April 7, 1990. They were shot with a .357 magnum by a “thrill-seeking” 16-year-old whose motive was that he “wanted to see what it would feel like to shoot someone.” Nancy and Richard were at the happiest time of their lives, married three years, about to move into their first house and have their first child. They were incredibly warm, outgoing, life-living people. Their murders devastated many, many people who loved them. After watching Richard being shot point blank at the back of the head, rendering it unrecognizable, Nancy begged for the life of her unborn child. She crossed her arms over her pregnant abdomen and cried “Please, don’t kill me, please don’t kill my baby.” But the killer then pointed the gun directly at her abdomen and fired – directly hitting the small life inside, exploding it. He left Nancy to bleed to death. As she lay dying she drew a heart and the letter “u” in her own blood – a message “Love You” were her final words. We work every day to honor her loving life. This wonderful family lost to us so horrifically is further evidence there are too many victims of gun violence in this nation. When will our governing leaders act responsibly?

It is very sad and painful to read these stories. It with a painful heart to hear about the families. These lives will be missed
