In 2006, we lost a true soldier: Julius Birdine.
Julius lost his life refusing to participate in an illegal dog fight. After Julius refused, he was faced with a decision, let the dogs fight or he must fight the owner of the other dog. Julius loved dogs only to raise them as pets. After being confronted, Julius had no other choice but to defend himself. As a result of that, Julius was shot and killed in cold blood in his own front yard, while his wife and daughter were in the house.
The killer fled but was later captured by the police. After this wrongful death, Julius’ mother, Joyce Hunter, started the Julius Birdine Foundation to help mothers, along with other family members, cope with the tragic loss of a loved one.
Julius left his loving wife, Brandy, and daughter, Mahogany ,and a host of family and other loving friends behind to carry out this vision. Julius came to his mother in a dream and told her to help others get through this sadness.
