On a Friday afternoon, several cold hearted people entered our home and invaded it without a cause. They held my son who was only 20 and my daughter who was only 12 at gunpoint. They proceeded to rob our home and began to tie my son up with a cord and placed him as well as my daughter on their stomachs side by side.
When they were done, they all began to leave but one stood behind and cowardly shot my son in the back. After the shooter ran out, my brave and courageous son untied himself and tried to stand on his feet but sadly he fell right back down to the floor. Then he turned to his sister and said, “Go get help. I think I’m going to die.” She then responded to him by saying “Please, Gibby, don’t die!” As she went to go get help, my son was quickly losing his life all alone. When his sister returned, he was all ready gone!
Gibby leaves behind a little girl who will never be able to know her father, a family that is emotionally traumatized every day he’s away from us, and friends that were more like brothers and sisters who will not be able to spend any more special moments with him. This is a tragedy that should never have happened. If there were stricter laws on gun violence, our Gibby would be here today.
He enjoyed life to the fullest everyday all day with a smile that would light any darkness. He wore his smile no matter what obstacle would come his way. His laughter and kindness were shown to all he crossed paths with.
Everyday as we remain here to live, he will forever keep shining for us all. His inspiration has had an effect on all our lives.To all, he’s a hero whose life was taken so that many other lives could be changed for the good. That is why our GIBBY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!
I will never forget the day I met Gilbert. He was so alive and just excited about life. I’ve never met anyone like him. He had a glow to him like I’d never seen before. Never in my life did I ever think we lose him and how we lost him. Such a awsome soul to be tookin so awful and cold hearted. Theres never a day that goes by I don’t think of him. We had so many great times. I miss my friend everyday. Can’t wait to see you again Gib!
I will never forget Gib and with everyday I live I will be effected by not only by his influence on me but also his tragic passing. Never in my life have I met a man with so much love for life itself and live for the moment as Gibby did. He will never be forgotten and my friendship with him will forever extend to his family who has done so much for me to help mold me to the man I am today. I am so sorry for your loss, it is so sad the way your son had to die. The only thing you have are memorries that you have of him, yes you are bless with that.The coward that killed your son, I’m sure that eventually he will be brought to justice, one way or another.
