Title: Iron River: Gun Violence and Illegal Firearm Trafficking on the U. S. - Mexico Border
Publication Date: March 31, 2009
What does it say?
Mexican drug trafficking organizations are being easily supplied with U.S. weapons because of two main features of the civilian U. S. firearms market: 1) lax law and regulation of the firearms industry compounded by weak or ineffective enforcement and 2) the deliberate choice by the industry to manufacture and market military-style firearms like assault weapons, .50 caliber sniper rifles, and highly lethal handguns like the FN Five-seveN.
How can I use it?
This report makes the case that we urgently need reform of the U.S. gun industry and gun laws in order to make it harder for dangerous people to get their hands on highly lethal weapons.
