The risk of workplace homicide is 7 times higher in workplaces that allow guns compared with workplaces that prohibit all weapons (p. 19).  Each of the 500 workplace homicides each year costs society approximately $800,000. The report recommends that employers’ adopt no-weapons policies as part of their efforts to reduce gun violence.
