What does it say?
Virginia adopted a landmark law in 1993 to limit handgun purchases to one per person per month. The gun lobby has been trying to weaken and repeal the law ever since. In 1995, a Virginia legislative committee instructed the Virginia State Crime Commission to study the law and issue a report.
The commission concluded that the one-gun-a-month purchase law was having its intended impact in reducing the gun trafficking of Virginia guns to other states and that the law did not place an onerous burden on law-abiding gun owners.
How can I use it?
Use this report support legislation that would prevent or decrease the amount of illegal gun trafficking or crime that occurs in the United States. Virginia’s purchase limit law successfully decreased the amount of gun trafficking that was originating in the states and helped reduce criminal activity.
