Title: Guns and Hate: A Lethal Combination

Publication Date: July 2009

What does it say?

This report provides concrete examples of white supremacists and other right-wing extremists killing innocent people with guns obtained easily because of our weak gun laws.  Unregulated private sales, including those at gun shows, provide an easy way for white supremacists and other domestic terrorists to obtain guns.  The report also documents the NRA’s history of dangerous and inflammatory rhetoric that may fan the flames of hate among extremists.

How can I use it?

Use the examples in the report to document that we need to require background checks for all gun sales, including at gun shows; give the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms the authority it needs to properly regulate gun dealers, and limit the number of handguns purchased at one time.
