What does it say?

This report, updated monthly, tallies the number of concealed permit holders who have killed someone, since May 2007.   Because the gun lobby has worked to keep secret information on permits to carry loaded hidden handguns in public, this report relies on newspaper accounts and legal proceedings.

The report tracks deaths of law enforcement, private citizens, the number of mass shootings, and the number of murder-suicides.

How can I use it?

In the 1990s, the gun lobby passed laws stripping law enforcement of its discretion over who is able to carry loaded hidden handguns in public.  The gun lobby's logic was that allowing just about anyone to carry loaded handguns in public would enhance public safety. The gun lobby's claim that guns in public makes us safer has been refuted by academic research and by these chilling anecdotes. 

Yet, the gun lobby is now trying to allow carrying of loaded guns into all public places like national parks, restaurants, and bars.  Use this research to show legislators that more guns in public endangers us all.
