Title: Crime Gun Risk Factors: Buyer, Seller, Firearm, and Transaction Characteristics

Publication Date: January 2007

What does it say?

This study links Maryland handgun sale records to crime gun trace data to identify risk factors for gun trafficking and criminal gun use.  The study period covers 1990 to March 2000.

The analysis found that guns sold as part of a bulk sale were up to 64 percent more likely to be used in crime.

How can I use it?

Use this study to help make the case that we need to limit bulk sales of handguns.
