This report summarizes results from a national government survey of more than 4,500 children or their parents or adult caregivers regarding their past-year and lifetime exposure to violence. The survey was conducted between January and May 2008.
Twenty-two percent of 14- to 17-year -old participants reported having ever witnessed a shooting (p. 6).

Use the findings of this study to document that 22 percent of teenagers in the U.S. have witnessed a shooting.
