Virginia has weak gun laws that help feed the illegal gun market, allow the sale of guns without background checks and put children at risk, according to the Brady Campaign. In the organization’s 2009 state scorecards released for all 50 states, Virginia earned just 17 points out of a total of 100.
“Our legislators have stood in the way of important legislation aimed at ensuring that guns don’t end up in the hands of dangerous individuals,” said Martina Leinz, President of the Virginia Million Mom March.
