BRADY CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON JOE WALSH "MUSKET" COMMENT

WASHINGTON - Dan Gross, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, issued the following statement on former congressman Joe Walsh's recent statement, "On November 9th, if Trump loses, I'm grabbing my musket."

"Joe Walsh's continued vile and violent rhetoric has no place in our political discussion. This is what happens when a presidential candidate spends their campaign inciting and encouraging violence and delegitimizing the democratic process. People start to listen. Ninety Americans already die every day because too many people in this country solve their problems with bullets instead of ballots or words. Violence does not make America safe, violence does not make America great. Democrat, Republican, independent, or in between, we are better than this and we cannot allow armed hate to become a new normal in American politics."

The mission of the Brady organization and its Million Mom March is to create a safer America by cutting gun deaths in half by 2025. For more insight on gun violence prevention, follow us on Facebook and Twitter @BradyBuzz.

About Us: The Brady Campaign and Center, united with the Million Mom March, is a national network of over 90 grassroots chapter affiliates mobilized to prevent gun violence at the community level. The network has played a vital role in expanding Brady background checks in the six states that have passed legislation since the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut and produced the largest national protest of gun violence in U.S. history - The Million Mom March, Mother's Day 2000.
