Brady Campaign Endorses David Cicilline for U.S. House

Oct 21, 2010

Washington, D.C. - The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence today announced its endorsement of David Cicilline for election to Congress in Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District.

"As a former state House representative and current mayor of Providence, David Cicilline knows the terrible toll that gun violence takes on our families and communities," said Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign. "That’s why promoting sensible gun laws is one of the defining aspects of his political career. David has not been afraid to stand up to the gun lobby. As a leader in the U.S. Conference of Mayors, David was one of the first to join the Mayors Against Illegal Guns campaign. As a member of the 112th Congress, David Cicilline will again be in the forefront of promoting specific legislation to make us safer at home, at work, and in our communities. "

The Brady Campaign is the nation's largest citizens' lobby to prevent gun violence. We represent the voice of the overwhelming majority of Americans who are tired of living with the constant tragedy of gun violence and are in favor of strong laws and policies that will save lives. We are the light that exposes politicians who are putting the American people at risk, empowering the American people to hold them accountable for decisions and actions that undermine public safety.

We are driven by the focused vision of a nation where all Americans are safe at home, at work, at school, and in our communities.
