Marcellus Wiley, ESPN Commentator and NFL Veteran, Joins Brady Board

Jun 24, 2010

Washington, D.C. - Marcellus Wiley, who has excelled as a scholar, professional athlete, and on-air personality, was elected to the Boards of the Brady Campaign and Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence on June 11, 2010.   Most recently, Marcellus has built a broad and loyal following as an analyst and sports television host.

Wiley is currently an NFL analyst for ESPN and co-host of Winners Bracket on ABC. Wiley regularly appears on NFL Live, SportsCenter, and ESPNEWS, while also contributing to ESPN’s Super Bowl coverage. He makes frequent visits to ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike in the Morning and guest host appearances on ESPN2’s SportsNation, and he also served as a game analyst for ESPN’s Arena Football League telecasts in 2008.

“We’re thrilled to have a communicator and businessperson of Marcellus Wiley’s experience, energy and talent join the board of our organizations,” said Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign and Brady Center.  “In addition, our access to the professional sports community (as well as the prospect for reviving our flag football team) has improved dramatically with this announcement.”

Wiley was an all-pro defensive end who played for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars during a ten-year NFL career from 1997 through 2006.  As a standout on the Columbia University Lions football team, he helped turn the team’s fortunes around significantly: the Lions were 2-8 when he was a freshman and 8-2 when he was a senior.  He’s since been inducted into Columbia’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

In addition to being a commentator and frequent host on ESPN television and radio, Wiley is a successful businessman.  His company, Wiley Enterprises, owns a clothing boutique in LA, a motor sports company and a social networking website.
