· Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. January 28, 2008. A 12-year-old girl is dead and her mother badly injured after they were shot with an AK-47 Assault Rifle. The two were visiting an older sister when an assailant sprayed the house with dozens of bullets.
· Camp Hill, Alabama. January 22, 2008. A 19-year-old shot a 17-year old in the face with an assault rifle after the two argued over the stolen weapon.
· Orlando, Florida. January 21, 2008. A man and woman were injured when a gunman shot 20 rounds at their home with an AK-47-type assault rifle.
· Miami, Florida. January 20, 2008. Three cousins were shot in their car by dozen of rounds fired from an assault rifle. One of the cousins is brain dead. A family home was sprayed with bullets from an AK-47 earlier in the week, injuring another cousin.
· Carmichael, California. January 16, 2008. A 24-year-old man was shot with an assault rifle in a drive-by shooting and died.
· Louisville, Kentucky. January 14, 2008. A man carrying an assault rifle fired several rounds at a police officer during a traffic stop. The officer was not injured.
· North Miami Beach, Florida. January 8, 2008. An off-duty Miami police detective stumbled into a dispute, and was shot and killed by a man using an AK-47 Assault Rifle.
· Merrillville, Indiana. December 31, 2007. A 25-year-old man shot a 20-year-old man with an assault rifle. The shooter asked the victim and another man to leave his apartment after they argued, and then followed them outside and shot the victim multiple times.
· Baltimore, Maryland. December 30, 2007. Two men were shot with an AK-47 Assault Rifle after having a dispute with two other men.
· Little Rock, Arkansas. December 29, 2007. A six-year-old girl was killed when two gunmen, using an assault rifle and a pistol, fired over 50 rounds into the house where she was sleeping.
· Ozark, Alabama. December 29, 2007. An 18 year-old man repeatedly shot a 20 year-old man using a SKS Assault Rifle after the two argued. The teen died from his injuries.
· Southington, Connecticut. December 24, 2007. One man shot another in the head with an assault rifle after the two argued. The victim died.
· Visalia, California. December 13, 2007. A 17-year-old with an assault rifle shot a 21-year-old in the hand and arm after the two met on the street.
· Arvada & Colorado Springs, Colorado. December 9, 2007. One man with an assault rifle attacked a missionary training center in Arvada and a church in Colorado Springs. He killed two people and injured two others in Arvada, and killed two and injured three others in Colorado Springs. He died after being shot by a security guard and then shooting himself.
· Omaha, Nebraska. December 5, 2007. Nine were shot to death and five others were injured after a disturbed 20-year-old shooter, armed with a military-style assault rifle, attacked shoppers in a Nebraska mall.
· Arden, South Carolina. December 4, 2007. One man was injured when two men shot him at close range with an AK-47 Assault Rifle. He was shot twice in the right foot and once in the left leg. The victim did not know either of his assailants
· Memphis, Tennessee. November 13, 2007. One man was killed and another injured after an unidentified man opened fire on a grocery store parking lot using an AK-47 assault rifle.
· Vallejo, California. November 4, 2007. One man died after being shot several times with an assault rifle during an argument with two other men. Witnesses who pursued the shooters by car were also shot at, although none were injured.
· Crandon, Wisconsin. October 7, 2007. An off-duty sheriff’s deputy killed six and wounded a seventh person when he burst in on a pizza party and started shooting. The shooter later killed himself as the police closed in.
· West Palm Beach, Florida. September 18, 2007. Two men were killed and another injured when they were attacked in their car by two men carrying a handgun and an assault rifle. The suspects later shot at the police as they escaped and have yet to be found.
· New Orleans, Louisiana. September 15, 2007. At least 28 bullets were fired from an AK-47 at an outdoor celebration for the birthday of 5-year-old twins in the courtyard of a public housing complex. A 19-year-old was killed and three children were wounded, aging 7, 8 and 13 years old. The shooters remain at large.
· Miami, Florida. September 13, 2007. While attempting to pull over a car that was being driven erratically, the driver pulled out a Mak-90 and fired at the police officers. The suspect killed one officer and wounded three more. The shooter evaded the police net for upwards of 13 hours before he was eventually found 30 miles away from the scene of the shooting, where he was then shot and killed by police officers.
· Aiken, South Carolina. September 12, 2007. A 20 year-old man died after being shot multiple times with an assault rifle by a 19 year-old when they were having an argument.
· Rome, Georgia. August 26, 2007. One man was killed and a woman seriously injured inside their home. The shooter was found with an AK-47, from which several clips of ammunition had been emptied, and a 12-gauge shotgun when police arrived at the scene.
· Treme, Louisiana. August 13, 2007. Two men were killed and another was seriously wounded as a shooter sprayed the crowed with an AK-47 assault rifle at a recreational league basketball game.
· Dallas, Texas. August 12, 2007. One person was killed and three others wounded in a shooting outside a poetry/coffee shop. The gunman, who used an assault rifle, fled the scene.
· Reading, Pennsylvania. August 12, 2007. A 26-year-old wielding what was described as a Tech-9 in a series of acts terrorizing the neighborhood was later killed by police in a shoot-out.
· East Hialeah, Florida. August 5, 2007. A man and his wife were shot by an unkown gunman with an AK-47 inside their home. The man died of his wounds.
· Oakland, California. August 4, 2007. A gunman with an assault rifle unleashed a barrage of bullets at a van parked on a North Oakland street, killing one man who lived nearby and wounding his brother and their friend. The gunman then fled.
· Orangeburg, South Carolina. July 19, 2007. A man brandishing an assault rifle shot a woman once in the leg. The man was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.
· North Augusta, South Carolina. July 15, 2007. Twenty-one bullets were shot from an assault-style rifle into a home, hitting a 14-year-old boy sleeping inside. The bullets reportedly came from a car outside, tore through a foosball table, couch, and the wall to a back bedroom, where they pierced furniture, blasted a TV to the floor, and hit the boy.
· Biloxi, Mississippi. June 5, 2007. A gunman with an AK-47 ambushed police officers in a shootout, killing one, then shot himself. The gunman lured police in a planned ambush by randomly firing shots in the neighborhood and waiting. After shooting one officer, he unloaded additional rounds into the patrol car. The gunman had a cache of backup guns and ammo waiting inside his home, police revealed Friday.
· Frederick, Maryland. April 28, 2007. A drunken man opened fire on his housemates, including women and children, with an assault rifle. No one was injured. The shooter was charged with six counts of first and second-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment.
· Metairie, Louisiana. February 27, 2007. An AK-47 was one of several guns used in a gun battle in Metairie that resulted in four men being shot, one fatally and another critically.
· Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. February 13, 2007. A gunman used an assault weapon to kill 3 and wound another before killing himself.
· New Bedford, Massachusetts. December 12, 2006. Three people were killed and two police officers were injured when a gunman opened fire at the Foxy Lady strip nightclub in New Bedford early Tuesday before being fatally shot himself. One of the weapons used was described as an AR-15.
· Westboro, Massachusetts. December 2, 2006. Police seized a semiautomatic assault rifle from the bedroom closet of a young Shrewsbury man who posted threatening Internet messages and who claimed to admire one of the Columbine High School killers.
· Duluth, Minnesota. November 7, 2006. A felon carjacked a vehicle and assaulted a woman in her home before shooting at a police officer, and attempting to shoot himself, with an AK-47 type assault weapon.
· Chicago, Illinois. October 30, 2006. Members of the New Breed Street gang shot at Chicago police officers with an AK-47 from their car, injuring one officer. One gang member was killed and another critically wounded in the shoot-out.
· Chapel Hill, North Carolina, July 29, 2006. A gunman with an assault rifle shot a man multiple times outside a nightclub, killing him. The shooter fled in a getaway car and later turned himself in, when he was charged with first-degree murder.
· St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. June 27, 2006. A man dies after being shot once in the abdomen by close range shots from an assault rifle.
· San Antonio, Texas. June 26, 2006. A man dies after being shot in the stomach. Earlier in the week the victim had shot an assailant in the arm with an AK-47. The June 26 shooting was believed to be retaliation.
· Calumet City, Illinois. June 25, 2006. A 22-year old pregnant woman and her 3-year old son are shot and killed while they were sleeping, when an unknown gunman fired 30 rounds from an AK-47 into their home at 1:15 a.m.
· St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. June 20, 2006. A man who had killed a deputy police officer and injured another during a crime spree broke into the house of an 81-year old man and held him hostage with an AK-47 until he eventually gave himself up and released the elderly hostage.
· Montgomery, Alabama. June 16, 2006. A man known to carry assault weapons shot his ex-girlfriend in the shoulder.
· Gretna, Louisiana. June 15, 2006. A man barricaded in his home engaged in a 19-hour shootout with police, and wounded 2 sheriff’s deputies before being killed by a SWAT team sniper. A search of the home revealed the shooter had used an AK-47 and an Uzi submachine gun.
· Chubbuck, Idaho. June 15, 2006. Two men opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle on an unoccupied home. There were children playing in the neighboring park during the shooting.
· Reno, Nevada. June 12, 2006. An owner of a gun shop, with a license to carry concealed weapons and access to a cache of guns, stabbed his wife to death and then shot the family court judge presiding over his divorce with a Bushmaster .223 high-powered rifle with sniper capabilities. The judge was shot with the sniper weapon while standing in a window of the courthouse, and survived.
· New Hanover County, North Carolina. June 12, 2006. Two men opened fire on other boaters with an M-16 automatic gun that had tracer capabilities.
· Howard County, Maryland. June 8, 2006. County police officers were shot at by a man wielding an assault rifle that they were attempting to serve a warrant on.
· Norman, Oklahoma. June 7, 2006. Two men opened fire on a Native American gathering of over 300 with an SKS assault rifle, killing one man and injuring another.
· Miami, Florida. June 7, 2006. Three men killed and another injured when the van they were riding in was “shot to pieces” by automatic assault weapons. About 50 rounds were fired into the van.
· Hartford, Connecticut. June 5, 2006. Two men under the age of 21 were shot and killed on a street corner by an automatic assault rifle similar to an AK-47.
· Indianapolis, Indiana. June 2, 2006. Seven family members, four adults and three children were shot and killed in their home by an assault rifle. Nearly 30 shell casings were found.
· San Diego, California. June 2, 2006. A teen was wounded in an accidental workplace shooting, when the teen’s co-worker brought in an AK-47 to show off at an auto body shop. There was no ammunition clip in the rifle, but the owner was unaware that there was a live round still inside the rifle’s chamber.
· Middletown, New York. June 2, 2006. One young man shot with a “semiautomatic, high velocity, military-style rifle” in a residential neighborhood, prompting neighbors to move out of the area.
· Detroit, Michigan. June 2, 2006. A 2-year old girl was wounded by an AK-47 in a drive-by shooting in which about 25 shots were fired.
· New Milford Township, Pennsylvania. May 27, 2006. Two men arrived at their neighbor’s residence to complain about gunshot noise coming from his property. After the men knocked on their neighbor’s door, the neighbor shot and wounded both men with an AR-15 rifle, a civilian version of a M-16 automatic rifle.
· Montgomery, Alabama. May 25, 2006. A 20-year old man was shot with an assault rifle in the neck and back and was placed on life support.
· Orlando, Florida. May 22, 2006. One man was shot during a robbery with an AK-47 assault rifle.
· Los Angeles, California. May 21, 2006. Police officers recover 4 casings from an assault weapon after reports of a drive-by shooting.
· Montgomery, Alabama. May 14, 2006. A 22-year old woman was shot and killed at her home with an assault rifle.
· Kingston, Tennessee. May 14, 2006. Deputy Sheriff and friend are shot and killed by high-powered assault rifles. Autopsy revealed that the sheriff had 33 gunshot wounds. The shooter was said to have been patrolling his property for weeks with an assault rifle around his neck.
· Port Salerno, Florida. May 12, 2006. Deputy Sheriff was shot and wounded with an AK-47 assault rifle.
· Syracuse, New York. May 12, 2006. Man sentenced after carrying an Uzi submachine gun and a semiautomatic pistol near an elementary school.
· Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. May 10, 2006. Police officer shot and killed by assailant carrying a semiautomatic pistol and a sawed-off shotgun. It was the first fatal shooting of a responding officer in Philadelphia in over ten years.
· Fort Worth, Texas. May 9, 2006. A 16-year old boy is shot and killed by crossfire of an alleged gang shoot-out with assault weapons outside a convenience store.
· Fort Worth, Texas. May 9, 2006. In a related incident, a 50-year old woman is injured by gunfire from a high-powered assault weapon.
· Chantilly, Virginia. May 8, 2006. A teen laden with an AK-47, a high-powered hunting rifle, and 5 handguns engages in a firefight at a police station, killing a female officer and wounding another, who later dies from his injuries.
· Los Angeles, California. May 8, 2006. Police arrest a man and find over 20 assault weapons in his home after the man fired multiple rounds in the air from a semiautomatic pistol. The man had his young son with him at the time.
· Los Angeles, California. May 6, 2006. Man is acquitted for murder from the accidental shooting of his friend when he poked him with a M-16 assault rifle.
· Oskaloosa, Iowa. May 5, 2006. A teenager shoots his friend in the chest with a military-style semiautomatic rifle and then shoots himself.
· Miami, Florida. May 2006. A gunman wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the letters R.I.P., shot a 22-year old man with an automatic weapon.
· West Palm Beach, Florida. April 30, 2006. Two men are killed and a security guard wounded in a nightclub altercation. AK-47 casings are found at the scene.
· West Palm Beach, Florida. April 28, 2006. An AK-47 is used to kill a man. Later, shots are fired into a home.
· West Palm Beach, Florida. April 27, 2006. An AK-47 is used to kill a man and his teenage sister.
· Oakland, California. March 19, 2006. A gunman with an AK-47 opened fire on an apartment building, filling it with bullets and killing a 49-year-old man.
· Lake Worth, Florida. March 17, 2006. A man angry about an argument over a woman shot the woman and her roommate with an AK-47. The roommates were killed as they answered the door after the shooter honked his car horn. The shooter left the two victims in the doorway.
· Chicago, Illinois. March 11, 2006. A ten year-old girl is killed by a shot to her head, as she was celebrating her birthday in her living room. A spray of bullets from a TEC-9 type assault weapon peppered the house from a nearby fight.
· Chicago, Illinois. March 3, 2006. A stray bullet from an AK-47 type assault rifle struck a 14-year-old honor student as she was looking out the window of her home, killing her instantly.
· Brevard County, Florida. February 20, 2006. A 20-year-old fired an AK-47 at his brother and father from the front yard of his home. One of the bullets hit a neighbor’s home and came within a foot of hitting a 3-year-old.
· Cincinnati, Ohio. February 14, 2006. The same man who shot and killed a man during an attempted carjacking in January robs a barbershop, and shoots the owner with a SKS rifle. The owner survives.
· Las Vegas, Nevada. February 1, 2006. A 22-year-old fired at least 50 rounds from a semiautomatic assault rifle shooting two Las Vegas police officers, killing one, before being shot and killed by the surviving officer.
· Indianapolis, Indiana. January 26, 2006. A Tec-9 semiautomatic weapon is used to rob a gas station at 3 a.m. This follows a string of robberies in Indianapolis in 2005 also using a Tec-9.
· Montgomery, Alabama. January 24, 2006. Three men were injured after being shot with an AK-47 following a dispute at a club.
· Brooklyn, New York. January 20, 2006. A man is arrested after firing at least two rounds from an Uzi at two members of the New York Police Department.
· Miami, Ohio. January 16, 2006. A 22-year old man was gunned down at a gas station with a small machine gun.
· Cincinnati, Ohio. January 14, 2006. A man shot another man with an SKS rifle during an attempted carjacking.
· Ocala, Florida. January 7, 2006. Two community college environmental club students camping in the Ocala National Forest were randomly targeted by a man who shot and killed them with a stolen AK-47.
· Indianapolis, Indiana. January 2, 2006. A man dubbed the “Tec-9 Robber” is arrested after being wanted in connection with as many as 23 robberies committed with a Tec-9.
· Caddo Parish, Louisiana. January 1, 2006. A 19-year-old is arrested after he is found hiding in an alley with an assault weapon. He faces two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and faces potential charges for riddling a house with bullets, injuring a man.
· Wayne County, Michigan. December 31, 2005. A 40-year-old man is shot and killed with an assault weapon while standing on his front porch around 3:45 p.m.
· Miami, Florida. December 28, 2005. A man dressed in all black used an assault weapon to fire multiple rounds into a house killing one and wounding another.
· Fortville, Indiana. December 13, 2005. A man who was believed to have mental problems caused by a brain tumor fired an assault weapon believed to be an AK-47 at the feet of another man and then barricaded himself, his wife and his 13-year-old son in his house and threatened to shoot anyone who came to the door.
· Idaho Falls, Idaho. December 4, 2005. A man armed with an AK-47 forced another man in a car off the road before robbing him of his wallet and cell phone at gunpoint.
· San Francisco, California. October 14, 2005. A 22 year-old father and his two year-old son were killed when a man open-fired with an assault weapon as they left a day care facility. The mother was wounded, but survived.
· Indianapolis, Indiana. October 11, 2005. A pregnant woman is shot when a man fired an AK-47 into the home. Police report that the man shot into the home, where eight children were present, after being confronted by the woman’s boyfriend for attempting to rape her.
· Carson City, Nevada. September 13, 2005. Two men were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery after using an AK-47 assault rifle and pistols to rob a man in his vehicle.
· Warren, Michigan. August 13, 2005. Brandishing an AK-47 assault rifle, two men rob a McDonalds at 4 a.m.
· North Bradock, Pennsylvania. August 12, 2005. A man is found dead, shot in the back and the back of the head. Police found assault rifle bullet casings near the body.
· Denton County, Texas. August 9, 2005. In a night-long standoff at his home, a man fires his SKS assault rifle at police to avoid being arrested. After shooting an officer in the leg and refusing to negotiate, police shoot and kill the suspect.
· New Orleans, Louisiana. August 8, 2005. While driving, a man is shot and killed when an occupant of another car opens fire with an AK-47 assault rifle.
· Golf Manor, Ohio. July 25, 2005. An innocent bystander is wounded when caught in the middle of a gun battle while out for a walk. Police find an Uzi assault pistol under a parked car.
· Indianapolis, Indiana. July 12, 2005. A man kills his wife with an assault rifle and then fires at the police before turning the gun on himself.
· West Palm Beach, Florida. June 25, 2005. A man is killed and his nine-year-old daughter is severely wounded in the head and stomach when a man fires an assault weapon that police believe had been converted to automatic fire into the victims’ parked car.
· Cincinnati, Ohio. June 22, 2005. Assailants armed with SKS-type assault rifles spray over forty armor-piercing bullets in twenty seconds and hit two women outside a grocery store.
· Belleville, Illinois. June 12, 2005. Four young men are shot by an assailant when the assailant fired an AK-47 out of his car window.
· Ridgefield, New Jersey. June 4, 2005. Police find 477 guns, 500 pounds of gunpowder and about 100,000 rounds of ammunition in a two-time convicted felon’s home who is barred from owning weapons.
· Fresno, California. May 31, 2005. A man fires at least eight shots from an assault rifle at two veteran police officers outside the police K-9 facility. The police later find a partially loaded 30 round magazine in the assailant’s car.
· Kansas City, Missouri. May 29, 2005. A man who was recently fired from his job at an elementary school shoots a state highway-patrol trooper nine times with an assault rifle after a traffic stop
· Tulsa, Oklahoma. May 29, 2005. A gunman fires more than 20 shots from an assault rifle at an apartment security guard, wounding the guard and hitting his car and surrounding buildings.
· Camden, New Jersey. May 21, 2005. A mother of three young children is killed in her car from a stray bullet fired from an AK-47 during a two person street shootout.
· Jackson, Mississippi. May 18, 2005. A man fires at least 17 shots from an SKS Assault rifle and 9mm pistol at police after a traffic stop.
· Cheyenne, Wyoming. May 11, 2005. A long-standing argument ends with a single gunshot to the chest from an AK-47 and a teen's death.
· Clayton County, Georgia. April 23, 2005. One man is killed and three others are wounded when an assailant fires an AK-47 into a crowd of partygoers exiting a home.
· Miami, Florida. April 10, 2005. Three men are injured outside a club when an assailant fires an AK-47.
· Canton, Texas. April 8, 2005. A man shoots his son’s football coach in the chest with an AK-47.
· Houston, Texas. April 8, 2005. A policeman exchanges gunfire with robbers armed with AK-47s in a pawnshop.
· New Orleans, Louisiana. March 27, 2005. A woman is shot in the chest outside her apartment with an AK-47 when she refuses to give her purse to two armed robbers.
· Los Angeles, California. March 24, 2005. A twenty-something man is killed in a drive-by shooting with an AK-47.
· Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. March 16, 2005. A high school student dies and two others are wounded when a shooter fired at least eight rounds from an AK-47 into their vehicle.
· Dallas, Texas. March 15, 2005. Three people are killed when a shooter opens fire with an assault rifle on a road near Southern Methodist University.
· Pacific, Washington. March 12, 2005. A teenager is killed when his car is sprayed with at least nineteen bullets from an AK-47.
· Schertz, Texas. March 3, 2005. After being pulled over, a man fires more than 30 bullets from a handgun and AK-47 at the state police officer.
· Tyler, Texas. February 25, 2005. A gunman – wearing a bulletproof vest and a military flak jacket – shoots over 50 rounds with an AK-47 killing his wife and a bystander. The shooter’s son and three law enforcement officers are wounded in the gun battle.
· Los Angeles, California. February 24, 2005. A disgruntled employee kills his boss and another employee with an AK-47 after being reprimanded at work.
· Akron, Ohio. February 24, 2005. A man shoots and kills his girlfriend and seven-year old son with a fully automatic AR-15 assault rifle and fires hundreds of rounds at 12 law enforcement officers during a stand off before being arrested.
· Las Vegas, Nevada. February 15, 2005. As a suspected murderer flees police, his girlfriend fires an assault rifle with a 100 round magazine at pursuing police vehicles.
· Ulster, New York. February 13, 2005. Gunman fires more than 60 shots from an AK-47 assault rifle in the Hudson Valley Shopping Mall, wounding two and causing tens of thousands of dollars of damage before being apprehended. A few hours earlier, the shooter had purchased armor-piercing ammunition from a nearby Wal-Mart.
· Dayton, Ohio. January 31, 2005. An argument in a grocery store leads to the assault rifle shooting of three teens.
· Ravena, Ohio. January 21, 2005. Three people are killed, including a mother and her seven-year old son, when a man fires at least 18 bullets from an assault rifle.
· Jackson, Tennessee. January 11, 2005. A man armed with an SKS assault rifle kills three people, including his estranged wife, in a Tennessee Department of Transportation garage.
· Ceres, California. January 9, 2005. A man kills one police officer and wounds another at a convenience store with an SKS assault rifle.
· Newington, Connecticut. December 12, 2004. A former correction officer uses a fully automatic M-16 to fatally shoot a Newington policeman after the policeman responded to a domestic complaint.
· New Orleans, Louisiana. November 23, 2004. A man is killed Tuesday morning in a burst of assault rifle fire on a sidewalk that borders an elementary school.
· Birchwood, Wisconsin. November 21, 2004. A hunter opens fire with an SKS assault rifle, killing six other hunters and wounding two after a confrontation over a tree stand.
· Oak Creek, Wisconsin. November 5, 2004. A man wearing body armor armed with an automatic assault rifle opens fire in a hotel killing his girlfriend and an onlooker. While fleeing, the man fires 30 to 40 rounds down the hotel hallway and injured another bystander.
· Knoxville, Tennessee. November 1, 2004. A gun battle between two vehicles erupts near a local magnet high school with the assailants armed with two assault rifles and a .45-caliber Commando Mach 3 submachine gun. Police captured the men after they fled on foot to a nearby Toys-R-Us.
· Minneapolis, Minnesota. October 21, 2004. A store clerk is killed when a man shoots him in the chest with an assault rifle.
· Oakland, California. September 22, 2004. An honor student is killed on the sidewalk when errant assault rifle fire strikes her.
· Los Angeles, California. September 1, 2004. Two deputies barely missed being hit when a recent parolee opens fire on their patrol car with an AK-47.
