Job Summary

The Social Media Associate for the Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence is a highly motivated, creative, organized individual passionate about making a difference in the gun violence prevention movement. The SMA is accountable for locating, engaging and cultivating new, diverse audiences to the Brady mission by expanding various channels already in use and exploring new ones as they emerge. The SMA reports directly to the Digital and Creative Manager but also work closely with the entire communications staff to enhance Brady’s efforts.


  • Plan, create and launch engaging social media content in a thorough, well-organized manner to reach various audiences across a wide array of platforms
  • Locate and cultivate influencers to engage with Brady content and mission
  • Suggest shareables, infographics and other creative necessary to support social media campaigns
  • Contribute to, or ghost write, Brady blog and online content on ongoing basis
  • Track and monitor social media activity at all times to insert Brady where appropriate and media-jack pertinent conversations to achieve Brady’s engagement goals
  • Track and monitor analytics to assess trends and activity across social accounts and digital advertising performance to goal
  • Ensure your deliverables on the editorial calendar are being met
  • Form part of crisis communications team
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Communications Department as needed
  • Bring your passion and creativity to work whenever you walk through the door

An Ideal Candidate

  • Outstanding writing and communications skills
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Advertising, or other related field
  • Ability to monitor social media 24/7 and intrinsically know when Brady should take part in a conversation
  • Creative thinker, eager to embrace new technology and methodology
  • Someone who strives for excellence and impact in all they do
  • Attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work against short deadlines
  • Significant experience using social media in a professional setting
  • Interested in gun violence prevention
