POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees accounting and reporting activities in accordance with non-profit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and organization financial and management policies. Assist with audit requests and research accounting guidelines for best practices and reporting requirements. Responsible for daily accounting operations, to include the timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations, fixed asset management, implementation and monitoring of controls to mitigate risk, cash receipt, accounts payable and contract database management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage relationships with internal groups and flow of accounting information
  • Assist with annual audit and 990 preparation, and on-going accounting research requirements
  • Prepare monthly financial variance analysis
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and all reasonable discounts are taken
  • Capture revenue and accounts receivable in the general ledger according to GAAP
  • Prepare necessary monthly and annual adjusting entries
  • Ensure C3 and C4 transactions are accurately captured in the general ledger
  • Implement system improvements to increase efficiency of financial operations
  • Manage internal expense reimbursement process and financial on-boarding of new employees
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent
  • CPA candidate preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in an equivalent position
  • Must be proficient in computerized accounting systems
  • Must be proficient in use of computers to aid the accounting function
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Familiarity with non-profit organizations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate relationships and work successfully with other organizational units to achieve common objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
