Brady Center's African-American Outreach Initiative Holds Forum in New York City
The African-American Outreach Initiative, a project of the Brady Center's Grassroots Division, organziaed a forum in New York City entitled Reducing Gun Violence in the African-American Community through Advocacy and Action: Developing a Framework for an Effective Social Marketing Campaign. The one-day forum was held at the Harlem Children's Zone and was well attended by activists and allies in the tri-state area.
The forum's facilitator was Rev. Alfonso Wyatt of the Fund for New York City and the speakers included Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith (Harvard School of Public Health), Weusi Olusola (Pioneers for Peace), Wallace Hasan (New Yorkers Against Gun Violence), and Hezues R (Guns 4 Cameras).
The Forum provided a framework for the Initiative's next steps of qualitative research and message development.
