Washington, DC – The following statement was released today by Dan Gross, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence:
"We commend Senator Feinstein's continued leadership and her unwavering dedication to prevent gun violence. The assault weapons ban is one of the key components to the comprehensive plan put forth by President Obama, and we will work closely with Congress on all of the proposals as they are introduced.
The majority of Americans support the measures, and we will continue in our role of bringing the voice of the American public to Congress. We all believe, as the Senator does, that we are better than this. Now is the time to reduce gun deaths and injuries. Working closely with Congress, we can achieve that goal."
The Brady Campaign is the nation's largest citizens' lobby to prevent gun violence. We represent the voice of the overwhelming majority of Americans who are tired of living with the constant tragedy of gun violence and are in favor of strong laws and policies that will save lives. We are the light that exposes politicians who are putting the American people at risk, empowering the American people to hold them accountable for decisions and actions that undermine public safety.
We are driven by the focused vision of a nation where all Americans are safe at home, at work, at school, and in our communities.
